Notice Stage 1 Water Restrictions

Notice Stage 1 Water Restrictions

Despite the recent rains, this memo will serve as notice that the City of Bishop as per City Ordinance No. 8-29-00A; adopting a Drought Contingency Plan which regulates and restricts the usage of water during periods of water shortages. Mayor Tem Miller, has declared Stage 1 management rules are in effect. Stage 1 is implemented when the combined percentage of Lake Corpus Christi and Choke Canyon Reservoir falls below 40%.

STAGE 1 Water Restrictions

  1. Use of ornamental fountains is prohibited.
  2. Water customers are requested to voluntarily limit the irrigation of landscaped areas to Sundays and Thursdays for customers with an even-number address and Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers with an odd-number address and to irrigate landscapes only between the hours of midnight and 10:00 am or 8:00 pm to midnight on those designated watering days.
  3. All operations of the City of Bishop shall adhere to water use restrictions prescribed for Stage 1 for this Plan. *The City's splash pad uses recycled water*
  4. Water customers are requested to practice water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.

Why are these restrictions necessary?

The City of Corpus Christi has decided to take action to reduce the demand on our water supply. This action is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), which outline provisions to be implemented during drought conditions.

The City of Bishop is requesting your support to conserve water in order to have sufficient supplies for our future.
